One of the key battles in the country as we approach the finish line in Election 2010 is Lindsay Tanner’s old seat of Melbourne where the Greens and Labor are battling it out. Could it be this electorate that decides whether or not we have a hung parliament. Our on-the-ground reporter takes a lighter look at proceedings.

The Melbourne Hordes have begun descending in ever increasing numbers.

They’re coming in from all over and in concentrated number marching across Melbourne. They’re coordinated, ruthless and relentless.

They’ll not stop until they have darkened every doorstep.

But what or who are these Melbourne hordes?

I refer simply to the hundreds of party faithful criss-crossing across the electorate of Melbourne knocking on doors to lock in votes.  Melbourne is truly one of the hottest seats to watch, which in many respects is extraordinary given there are many other electorates on much tighter margins.

There’s also been an explosion in fundraising efforts to get those last vital advertising buys and last letterbox drops.  Letterboxes will cop a blizzard of paper over the next few days. Lets not forget the extra thick local newspapers stuffed with more political party leaflets.

The Liberals are all but a forgotten part of this race.

Needless to say its down to Labor and Greens.
