An American water distributor company believes it can resolve many of the world’s water shortages by shipping water from where it is plentiful, to destinations in Asia and the Middle East via an Indian distribution point.

Texas-based water distributing company S2C Global Systems, Inc. announced earlier this month that it would begin shipping water from Alaska to an undisclosed Indian water hub port within six to eight months.

The movement of Alaskan mountain water “…so pure it requires no treatment except to remove organics that might be present through the natural cyclewater,” across the world will begin by its shipping from Sitka Blue Lake Reservoir on Baranof island off the coast of Alaska, said a July 7 company press release.

Global Systems said it would begin the transfer of water to an undisclosed port near the south west Indian city of Mumbai, initially with a Suezmax vessel, capable of carrying 156,000 cubic meters of water cargo before switching to the larger vessels with 302,833 cubic meters capacity once port facilities are completed.

Water will then be delivered in smaller ships from the Indian water hub to various ports in the Middle East and Asia, it continued.

“The company will be able to sell from its hub bulk fresh water by way of smaller ships that can deliver to shallower ports, like Umm Qasr in Iraq (located within 4 days of India’s west coast), said the company.

“S2C will also sell fresh water in 20-foot containers with flexi-tanks (4623 USG) suitable for pharmaceutical/high tech manufacturing and packaged water (18.9 and 10L) for the consumer markets anywhere containers are delivered in south and west Asia from India,” it added.

Rod Bartlett, managing partner of Alaska Resource Management and President of S2C Global Systems, USA said the company’s aim of distributing water from Alaska to an increasingly water scarce world was taking shape.

“S2C Global has an exciting future in India and the region” he said. “After recently spending time in India meeting port authorities and potential distributors, our vision to distribute water globally became real. We fully expect the India World Water Hub to fulfill our minimum expectations of a half a billion gallons sold annually”.
